S.H.I.F.A.T Architectures is committed to providing an equal, accessible service to everyone, including people with disabilities. We have made this website accessible so that every visitor can browse our projects, read about the studio and contact us easily and independently.
Accessibility level
The site follows Israel's Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013, and Israeli Standard IS 5568 at level AA. IS 5568 is based on WCAG 2.0; going beyond it, the site was designed and checked against the current version, WCAG 2.2, at level AA.
Testing included an automated scan (axe-core) of every page in Hebrew and English at desktop and phone sizes, and manual checks of keyboard navigation, colour contrast, text resizing and narrow-screen reflow.
What we have done
- Full keyboard navigation with a clearly visible focus indicator, and a "Skip to content" link at the top of every page.
- Proper heading and landmark structure, with the page language set (Hebrew right-to-left, English left-to-right).
- Text alternatives for images and clear labels on every button and form field; form errors are announced to screen readers.
- Colour contrast of at least 4.5:1 for text, and touch targets of at least 24×24 pixels.
- The layout adapts to any screen size and to zoom up to 200% without losing content.
- Everything that moves on its own (the photo gallery, the 3D models, the light effects and the client-logo strip) has a pause button, and stops automatically for visitors who have asked their operating system to reduce motion.
- The 3D models can be rotated and zoomed with buttons and the keyboard (Shift+arrows and +/−), not only by dragging.
- An accessibility menu on every page: larger text, high contrast, highlighted links, a readable font with wider spacing, and stopping animations. Settings are remembered in your browser.
Known limitations
- The 3D models and maps are visual. The information they show (building type, project location) is also given as text on the page.
- Some archive photographs are described in their alternative text by project name only. We are improving these descriptions over time.
- Map tiles come from an external service whose accessibility we do not fully control.
If you find any part of the site that is not accessible to you, please tell us and we will fix it as soon as we can.
Accessibility at our office
Our studio is at Beit Shilo, Akko Rd 47, Kiryat Motzkin, 2636741, Israel. The studio is not open to walk-in visitors; every visit is by prior appointment.
- Disabled parking: available on-site, by prior arrangement.
- Step-free access: level access from the street to the elevator, no stairs.
- Elevator: an accessible elevator serves the office.
- Accessible restroom: not available at the office or in the building.
- Service animals: welcome, with advance notice.
